Chrome tests ads on the start page
It will be based on the activity of users on the Internet.
Google has begun work on a new feature for the Chrome start page that will display suggested products based on user interests, queries and purchases. The tab is currently only available in the Canary browser version.
The function remembers all user actions in Google services and is turned on and off manually. If you hover over the “i” on the card, the assistant will tell you why you are seeing this ad. The user from here also has the option to select the “continue search” option with an auto-complete feature.
Google representatives, however, said that these are free product listings, not ads, as the feature is currently in experiment mode
